The Old Gallery of Allenspark, located at the western entrance to Allenspark along Highway 7, will be open for business on Saturdays and Sundays during the holidays. They have a wide variety of artwork designed and created by local artists in the Peak to Peak region.
Michelle Johnson works the front desk at The Gallery and took some time to explain the displays and artwork being offered. “We have our holiday shop, and it started November 6 and will be going on until December 19.” They will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The Gallery is a spacious two-story log building full of photography, paintings, and other artwork that is created by 28 artists that have permanent displays, as well as eight crafters that create such things as potpourri, pottery, dishes, and jewelry.
They also have goods that have been made by the Hilltop Guild at Kelley House, a collection of artists that are active in the Allenspark area.
The Gallery space operates as a community center, offering a food bank which runs the first and third Wednesday of the month, a clothing closet, potluck dinners, movie nights, and concerts, as well as being a visitor center offering restrooms and internet access. There is even a playground for children and an electric car charging station.
Framed by the stark beauty of Long’s Peak as the highway rises to the top of Allenspark, The Old Gallery is a definite jewel of the Peak to Peak region and one that should be on the short list of holiday destinations for those that believe in supporting local artists.
The Old Gallery of Allenspark is located at 14863 Highway 7 in Allenspark. https://www.facebook.com/ pages/ The- Old- Gallery- Allenspark/123512631427524
