The Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association hosted an Oktoberfest celebration at the CCCIA hall on Highway 72 on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Dinner included one bratwurst and an extra one for $2, sauerkraut, German potato salad, pickles and strudel. Veggie brats were available.
Organizer Shelly Schaller and her husband Jay dressed in German clothes. She said they sold 46 meals and Tom Mulvany sang a German drinking song.
The Schallers have been putting on the Oktoberfest for five years. They live in Coal Creek Canyon. They are both on the CCCIA Board.
Mulvany spent three years in Germany while in the military and has returned a couple of times.
Volunteer Ashley Roberts and Lili Nersser, who attends Ralston Valley School, sat at the table at the entrance taking money for the dinners. CCCIA members paid $10 and nonmembers paid $15 each.
The next event will be a Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday, November 24 at the hall, 31528 Highway 72.
