NEDERLAND - Nederland Middle - Senior High School (NMSHS) inducted eight students into the National Honor Society on October 16, 2024. School counselor Jill Pries and Principal Gavan Goodrich organized and welcomed families to the ceremony.

The National Honor Society is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious secondary school academic program in the nation. During the ceremony the current National Honor Society members at NMSHS spoke about the four pillars that are the foundation of the Society: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Each new member has been chosen for embodying all four pillars.

With parents present, new members received a certificate and two roses. They also signed their name in a book that Nederland High School National Honor Society members have been signing in for decades.

The current National Honor Society members at NMSHS are Lauren Schrader, Gray Schlosser, Keahi Pelkum Donahue, Jayden Abookire, Amelie Bodnar, Payton Kutscher, Aya Pelkum Donahue, Natalia Garcia Upczak, Cedar Shupe, and Kendall Zotti.

The new member inductees are Brandon Beaber, Eliza Brundege, Tyler Goodnow, Abby Hess, Sam Harkness, Mason Ivey, Sierra Tomlinson, and Benjamin Weber.

The NMSHS National Honor Society Faculty Council includes Goodrich and Pries, as well as Scott Geels, Rovenna Yakubov, and Kristy Campbell.
