April Nielsen is running for Gilpin County Assessor. In an interview with The Mountain-Ear on Sunday, September 4, 2022, Nielsen shared a bit of information on her recent decision to run for office. She moved to Colorado in 2008, moving to Gilpin County over nine years ago.
Nielsen has been with Gilpin County on the Community Development team since June of 2021, and has a lot of experience working with the Assessor’s team.
If elected, she will focus on community, communication and customer service. She will work to make sure customers understand property tax changes we will experience in the coming months and years. She will take the required classes to become a licensed Ad Valorem Appraiser.
Nielsen feels she is well versed in handling conflict resolution and is ready to tackle the requirements of being the Gilpin County Assessor. She will be at the Art Gallery Fundraiser at the Gilpin County Arts Association in Central City on September 11 and at the Candidate Forum on September 24 at the Gilpin Rec Center.
