Dear Editor,
With acquisition of the Eldora ski resort and plans to annex the adjacent land, the Town of Nederland is set to enter a new era that can define environmentally sound quality-of-life.
A system of water reservoirs is absolutely essential for the town and the future annexation can make the planning and funding for this momentous task much easier.
A focus on seeking new affordable housing is also a basic need that may be helped by increasing the economic vitality of the entire area.
Finally, the town’s support for institutions such as Nederland Food Pantry and TEENS, Inc., can be continued indefinitely. Water security, affordable housing, social outreach, child care, outdoor recreation opportunities, these are the kind of things that people are looking for in a mountain community, especially young folks thinking about raising a family.
If Nederland provides these, the future looks very good.
