Sara Sandstrom-Kobi, Nederland. Nederland Elementary held an assembly last week honoring the Pinwheels for Peace project. Schools around the world have their students make pinwheels and then gather together to create a visual statement for peace.
At NES students created pinwheels in art class and brought them to the all student assembly. At the assembly, the students sang songs about peace. Bob Dylan’s Blowin’ in the Wind and Let There be Peace on Earth by Jill Jackson-Miller and Sy Miller were two of the songs sung. The student’s voices blended beautifully together.
Art teacher Susan Blurton and music teacher Susan Jones organized the event.
