NATHROP - The Nederland High School Mountain Bike team competed in their final regular season race in Nathrop at the famous McMurray Ranch this past weekend, October 4-5, 2025.
While the weather was perfect, the course was tough, with a double track climb to a plateau followed by a rocky technical descent lined with cacti down to Chalk Creek.
There was a “senior send-off” parade for the Legacy riders—those who raced all four years of high school—where Nederland’s team captain, Sam Harkness, was honored.
"I feel honored to be a part of this growing bike community in Nederland,” said Harkness.
Junior Amika Begin took home fourth place in the race and fourth overall for Regionals. Sophomore Jonny Moss came in sixth in the race and was sixth overall. His chain dropped again at the end of the race as he was sprinting for the podium.
Other top finishers were junior Maddie Perry, coming in tenth for JV girls; Cody Waldron taking seventh in sophomore girls; and Tyler Begin coming in seventh for freshmen boys. Senior Enzo Shows laid it all out and moved up several spots to qualify for state.
The Nederland team took home third place in the race for Division Two, as well as third place overall for regionals.
Those competing at state will go to Glenwood Springs October 19-20 to race at Colorado Mountain College.
