Karen Gerrity, Nederland. The Denver Regional Council of Governments recently approved the 2020-2023 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), which identified federal/state funding for projects including one in Nederland. The Town will be awarded $1.5 million over the three years for the program to design and construct improved ADA Sidewalk Connections from the RTD Park-N-Ride to the Visitor’s Center. These funds can’t be used for road improvements so the Nederland Downtown Development Authority has committed over $100,000 to the project to improve Jefferson Street and the Visitor Center Parking Lot.
The Town also secured a donation of topsoil which was delivered to the area north of the Waste Water Facility last month. Staff rented the equipment needed to separate the soil from rocks, which were used to begin to fill the decommissioned sludge pond. The cleaned topsoil will be used to make improvements to Barker Meadows Park. The town saved tens of thousands of dollars with this donation.
The Public Hearing held on September 17, 2019, to consider an ordinance to regulate short-term rentals will be continued at the October 1, 2019, Board of Trustees Meeting.
