Nederland students win Science Symposium awards

John Scarffe, Nederland. Nine Boulder Valley School District students placed during a recent Science Symposium, Nederland Athletics Secretary Janet Turnburke announced in the School’s Daily Announcements on April 30, 2019. “Congratulations go out to all our SRS students who participated in the 2019 BVSD Science symposium. All our students did an outstanding job of representing our school. We are truly proud of their achievements.”

The results of the competition include: Behavioral & Social Sciences: First Place was Marguerite Regena Bradley; Behavioral & Social Sciences: Second Place was a tie, James Lammers and Iain McClenon; Engineering: First Place was Sasha Godsil; Environmental Science: First Place was Adam Figgins, Megan Feeley, William McNamara and Jakob Duncan.

Also, the Nederland Cycling Team athletes competed during the weekend of April 27 in the epic Koppenberg Road Race, a brutal test of legs and lungs, according to the announcement. Elise Harless placed Second in the Junior Women 13-14 category. Violet Rainwater placed Second in the Junior Women 15-16 category, and Petra Schmidtmann placed 10th in the Senior Women Category 1-2 race.
