Nederland Police Reports, September and October

On 9/4/20, Nederland Police was dispatched to the Smoker Friendly, which is located at 22 Hwy 72, for a party wanting to go to detox. The officer contacted the party and attempted to arrange for someone to hold onto his dog while he was at detox. The officer then took the party to the Alcohol Recovery Center (ARC) and then impounded his dog at the Boulder Humane Society.

Nederland Police took a report from Boulder Community Hospital of a male with laceration to his fingers from a knife. The RP was a nurse (mandatory reporter) who said the patient resided in Nederland. She said he was reluctant to speak about the incident. The cut reportedly was caused when he took a knife away from a boy. The nurse felt he was “protecting the boy” by not reporting. The officer spoke with the party who was generally uncooperative, not giving a name of the child. The party said he woke up to a commotion, saw the boy with the knife and took it away. The party said it was a mistake in how he reached for the knife. Party was in the middle of getting shots in his hand and did not want to talk anymore. Nederland Police followed up the next day, with the mother of the child who had a similar story, reporting her son was not harmed. Case closed at this time.

On 9/10/20, Nederland Police conducted speed enforcement in the area of Hwy 119 and East Street. During the course of an investigation it was believed that a driver might be under the influence of alcohol drugs. The driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

On 9/10/20, Nederland Police responded to a report of a party who was making statements of self-harm and intent to purchase a firearm to kill himself. The party was located in the Town of Nederland, where the family, after a brief conversation, refused to speak further and shut the door.

On 9/12/20, a Nederland Officer was approached by a female who reported she had been assaulted in the construction area in Boulder Canyon. Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center had received a report of an assault in the area and reported it to deputies. The suspect was located and arrested by the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

The Nederland Police Department investigated a report of cold fraud. The investigation is open, pending further information.

On 9/17/20, the Nederland Police Department investigated illegal fireworks launched off from the night of 9/16/20. Possible suspect information is known.

On 9/19/20, a Nederland officer was dispatched to a report of a vehicle with a broken axle on W Boulder Street. Upon investigation, it was determined the vehicle was damaged prior to turning onto W Boulder St from Hwy 119. This is based on the damage to the vehicle and skid marks on the roadway.

On 9/08/20, Nederland Police took a report of two males who got into a fight outside their apartment. One of the people ended up with a broken leg and ankle. He can’t say how it happened, he does not know or remember. Potential charges coming.

On 9/22/20, Nederland Police took a report of a male run away from his home in Nederland. The reporting party stated he stole a wallet and bike and was headed to Loveland to be with buddies. The male was recovered by Loveland PD and returned home.

On 9/22/21, Nederland Police took a report of a pedestrian hit and run at City Wide Bank. Upon investigation, an officer was told that a white vehicle pushed its way through one of the bank drive-through lanes that was occupied by pedestrians due to the bank lobby being closed. One male moved out of the way as the car pulled through, pounding on the side of the car windows as it passed by him at a low speed, seven mph maximum.

On 9/25/20, while on foot patrol, the Nederland Police Department found several juveniles using marijuana and in possession of drug paraphernalia in the Town of Nederland. Parents and guardians were notified, and municipal summonses were issued.

On 9/24/20, Nederland Police investigated the welfare of several children from the same family that reside in the Town of Nederland. A referral to the Department of Human services was completed.

On 10/1/20, Nederland Police took a report from a female party who claimed a male party who is listed on a protection order has continually violated the protection order. The female party had been complicit in the violations, until this day, where she reported a potential financial civil issue between them. The investigation shows the male violated the PO the same day he had gone to court to get it modified. The order was not modified.

On 10/4/20, Nederland Police investigated a disturbance in the Town of Nederland. The suspect was taken into custody and brought to the Nederland Police Department where they were issued a summons into Municipal Court for Criminal Mischief.

On 10/9/20, Nederland Police investigated the theft of a sign from town property located in the Town of Nederland. There are no suspects related to this case.

On 10/11/20, Nederland Police investigated a two vehicle, property damage crash in the Town of Nederland. A vehicle owner was cited for Careless Driving into Municipal Court. Neither vehicle required towing.

On 10/16/20, Nederland Police investigated a theft that occurred in the Town of Nederland at a business. The suspect was from out of state and ultimately the case was inactivated. The value of the item stolen was approximately $12.00.

On 10/18/20, Nederland Police investigated a family dispute in the Town of Nederland that was determined to have no criminal element. Parties voluntarily separated without incident.

On 10/20/20, Nederland Police investigated a disturbance in the Town of Nederland. No charges were filed. The disturbance was related to work being done on the roadway. There was an additional complaint stemming from an incident the day before that has been documented in this investigation.

On 10/21/20, Nederland Police investigated a report of a suicidal party in the Town of Nederland. The party was given a courtesy ride to a crisis center where they voluntarily admitted themselves.

On 10/23/20, Nederland Police was contacted by Teens Inc. about a party trespassing on the property. Once a trespass affidavit was completed, the trespassed person was notified not to return to the property.

On 10/24/20, a Nederland officer was directed to impound a vehicle that was reported to be disabled with a defective engine. Help Towing was contacted for the impound. The vehicle was removed without incident.

On 10/27/20, a female was arrested and charged with DUI after completing a voluntary blood draw in an AMR Ambulance. Female was released to her boyfriend.

On 10/29/20, Nederland officers dispatched to a disturbance at the Nederland Elementary School for a student fighting with staff. The student was using profanity, breaking and throwing items in the classroom upon arrival. The officer was able to gain cooperation from the student and later left with the father.
