On 9/20/19 at approximately 8:15 p.m., someone reported that they were concerned for the wellbeing of a friend. The party reported that they feared a friend who works at a local business was being stalked by a potentially abusive ex-boyfriend. It was discovered that the ex-boyfriend was coming to the female’s place of business as well as sending unwanted texts. The female feared for her safety, as her roommate was out of town, and was advised by police to obtain a protection order. The female requested a courtesy ride to her residence from police and asked them to search her home before she entered. Although there was an open window on the ground floor, no one was found inside the home.
On 9/24/19, officers were dispatched to a welfare check for a resident with known mental health issues who occasionally stopped taking his prescribed medication. The officers made contact with the individual and another man who was staying at the residence. On 9/30/19, the subject of this welfare check was reported missing by his family. Later this day, officers were dispatched to the same residence for a disturbance between the man staying at the residence and another party. The missing person was not present. His family provided information to the police that he had been arrested and released in Broomfield on 9/26/19. The investigation continued and police again visited the residence. No one had seen the missing man since his release. On 10/7/19, the attending officer received news that the missing man had been found deceased in Boulder. His death was determined to be due to natural causes.
On 10/2/19 at approximately 5:47 p.m., a woman reported to police that an Intoxalock device had been stolen out of her vehicle, which was in her driveway. The female suspected an ex-boyfriend. The neighbors did not witness anyone around the vehicle and the investigation is ongoing. The officer who handled the case reported the theft to Intoxalock.
On 10/4/19, officers were dispatched to an ongoing neighbor dispute regarding an easement. Each neighbor had placed a game camera facing the other’s home. The officer requested that each neighbor remove the cameras and the investigation is ongoing regarding the property line and trespass allegations.
On 10/5/19, a man flagged down an officer near Big Springs Road to report that his wife had been bitten by a dog.
On 10/7/19, officers took a report of damage to an excavator at a construction site. The driver stated that someone had caused extensive damage to the vehicle by putting the wrong fuel inside of it. The officer noted that the compartment was difficult to locate if one did not know where to look but is unknown if this incident was intentional or not. The investigation is ongoing.
On 10/10/19, officers were dispatched to a local business regarding a theft which had been captured on video surveillance. The officers made contact with the suspect, who denied stealing the item. Officers then called the business. The owner agreed to take the stolen item back and not press charges, but the suspect denied having taken the item and was issued a summons for theft.
On 10/11/19 at 11 a.m., an officer witnessed a vehicle with expired temporary tags. The driver had multiple warrants and no insurance or registration. The vehicle was impounded, and the woman was arrested without incident.
On 10/13/19 officers received a report regarding a landlord/tenant dispute. The tenant claimed that her landlord had been repeatedly texting her, ranting and threatening her. The tenant reported that the landlord had entered her home and removed her thermostat in addition to opening all of her windows. The investigation is ongoing.
On 10/13/19 officers were dispatched to assist Boulder County Sheriffs with a domestic violence incident that had occurred in Boulder Canyon. Upon arrival, officers discovered broken glass along the side of the roadway. Having received a description of the vehicle, officers began looking for it. It was located and backup was requested. One party was asked to wait in the patrol car while the other party was spoken with outside of the vehicle. Boulder County continued the investigation from that point.
On 10/14/19, officers were dispatched to a neighbor dispute related to the property line. Railroad ties had been marking the assumed lot lines, but one neighbor had been removing them repeatedly as the other neighbor replaced them. Eventually the neighbor who had been removing them had cut them up and piled them in the yard. The matter was resolved civilly between the households and arrangements were made to accommodate a driveway allowance.
On 10/19/19 at 8:40 p.m., an officer was dispatched to an illegal campsite on private property. One of the campers was found to have a warrant out of Boulder County and was arrested without incident. He expressed concern that his belongings would be stolen by the other camper, so the officers secured his belongings for temporary storage and drove him to the Boulder County Jail. The other camper was asked to leave the area and the owner declined to press charges.
On 10/20/19 at approximately 9:27 a.m., officers received a call from a local business who was concerned about an employee who had not shown up to work as expected. Officers discovered the missing person’s van at his temporary residence. Eventually it was determined that the man had been in the Denver area and was safe. Police had been concerned he was deceased in his vehicle and many resources were utilized such as cadaver dogs during this investigation. The missing person did not contact NPD to confirm his safety although his friends verified his whereabouts.
On 10/24/19, officers were dispatched to a domestic violence incident involving a couple that had a previous history of similar situations. The female party had talked the male party into coming over for dinner and things had escalated after a discussion regarding attractive females at the male party’s place of business. The female party claimed to be concerned that the male party shouldn’t leave her residence after consuming alcohol. The female party then prevented the male party from accessing his car, began kicking the front door and was yelling and cursing. The male party was asked to take a preliminary breathalyzer which indicated he was not intoxicated. The female escalated until she was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car. She was transported to the Boulder County Jail.
On 10/26/19, a theft was reported at a local business at 2:15 p.m. An item valued at approximately $350 was taken by a couple from out of state. Photos of their license plate and vehicle were captured as well as an image of the male party. The investigation is ongoing.
