On 5/5/22 a party reported having a vehicle driven toward them while walking on Highway 72. The vehicle was well over the white line for an extended distance and the reporting party moved farther out of the emergency lane. The vehicle turned back into the lane of travel 20 feet before the party’s location; the party also reported a similar incident on Caribou Road in August of 2021.
On 5/7/22 at approximately 1:45 p.m. a NPD officer contacted a kayaker who trespassed on Barker Reservoir. He was given a warning for trespass, had expired license plates on his vehicle, and a canceled and denied driver’s license. His driver’s license was confiscated and he was issued a proof of service per state law.
On 5/8/22 at approximately 6:15 p.m. NPD responded to a downtown Nederland address with cover from Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Deputies on a report of a possible domestic violence-related weapons call. It was determined there was no crime but one cooperative male was transported for an emergency mental health hold.
On 5/12/22 NPD investigated an animal attack that resulted in two off- leash dogs attacking a dog being walked on-leash as well as the dog’s owner. The owner sustained bites and scratches but declined medical treatment on scene. The dogs were placed on a bite confinement and the owner was issued a summons into Nederland Municipal Court for numerous animal related charges.
On 5/15/22 at approximately 3:04 p.m. a party reported to an NPD officer a cold theft that occurred at a restaurant the previous day. The officer is actively investigating the theft.
On 5/18/22 B&F called to report a worker was sent home intoxicated. The worker was located in his vehicle. Contact was made and the male was determined to be intoxicated. The male was transported to the ARC.
On 5/20/22 at approximately 1:21 p.m. NPD received a report of a possible cold domestic violence assault. An officer is actively investigating.
On 5/20/22 at approximately 12:02 p.m. an NPD officer responded to a downtown Nederland hotel on a report of a stolen credit card. The officer is actively investigating.
On 5/26/22 the NPD had a walk-in contact at the police department by an individual looking for a lost wallet. The person was notably in distress which resulted in the Nederland officer transporting the individual to a crisis center where they met with a Boulder County Co-responder who aided with a voluntary self-admission of the person for mental health assistance.
On 5/30/22 the NPD investigated a report of a vicious dog at large that resulted in another dog being attacked. This is an ongoing investigation.
On 5/30/22 the NPD investigated a shoplifting complaint which occurred in the Town of Nederland. The investigation resulted in an adult female being issued a summons for theft into Nederland Municipal Court. The total amount of items stolen valued $8.31.
On 5/31/22 the NPD, with the assistance from Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, investigated a trespass at a business located in the Town of Nederland. The business declined to press charges but the subject was interviewed and warned.
On 5/31/22 NPD investigated a civil complaint occurring in the Town of Nederland resulting in the removal of one person from a rental property and the voluntary separation of that person and another for the night. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
