Nederland Police Reports, June and July

On 6/1/20, a Nederland officer was dispatched for a welfare check on a 60 year old female who was attempting to fill her car with gasoline. It was determined she did not have any immediate medical need but was not safe to drive and may not be able to find her way home. Ultimately her car was left behind the Kwik Mart and she was transported to Lyons where the husband met the officer and took her home to Loveland.

On 6/5/20, a Nederland officer volunteered to assist Boulder County Sheriff’s Office due to the extended distance of both the primary Deputy and a further second Deputy, with an incident involving a female that crashed her vehicle, was possibly suicidal and had consumed acid and half of a mushroom. A friend of the female called Boulder County Communications Center to request assistance. The female was transported to the hospital.

On 6/6/20, a possible domestic was reported in one of the pull offs along Hwy 119. A Nederland officer assisted the Boulder County Sheriff’s officer. A male and female party were contacted and later the male party was arrested.

On 6/10/20, there was a report of a disturbance at the B&F Mountain Market, located at 60 Lakeview Drive. The party was asked to leave and eventually did so. 

On 6/13/20, the Nederland Police Department investigated a complaint of trespass, criminal trespass and theft that resulted in the arrest of a suspect who was later released with a summons into Boulder County Court.

On 6/17/20, Nederland Police Department received a call from Boulder Dispatch for a DUI driver/vehicle. The vehicle was at Hwy 119 and Hurricane Hill traveling toward Nederland. The officer observed the vehicle and its bad driving approaching the traffic circle. A traffic stop was conducted, after the driver almost hit a construction flagger at the circle. The female driver appeared highly intoxicated and refused roadside maneuvers. However, she did consent to a blood draw, conducted by AMR Ambulance staff. The original witness stated she almost hit the guardrail and another flagger in the canyon. Several muscle relaxer pills were spilled out of a new Rx bottle in the car, along with multiple pills the female spilled on the ground from her lap as she exited the car. The driver was summonsed and released to a sober party.

On 6/18/20, a hit and run was reported at the Visitor Center Parking lot. The owner of the vehicle reported it was parked for approximately 1 hour. No witnesses have been located or come forward about the incident. An accident report was completed.

On 6/21/20, the Nederland Police Department investigated a two-vehicle crash that resulted in the arrest of a driver for DUI, Careless resulting in Injury, NPOI and DUR. Both vehicles were impounded and one party was transported to Boulder Community Hospital.

On 6/22/20, a male was found unconscious, not breathing in the area of Nederland Elementary School. Despite the lifesaving efforts by the Nederland Police Department, Nederland Fire Department, and AMR the party was not revived and declared deceased on the scene.

On 6/25/20, the Nederland Police Department investigated a suspicious vehicle, possibly DUI/DUID complaint in Nederland. A suspect was written a summons for NPOI, expired registration and Driving without a Valid DL in person. The suspect left on foot due to his suspected intoxication. The suspect made private arrangements to have the car moved by Help Towing to a parking lot. It should be noted at the time of contact the vehicle was inoperable for an unknown reason.

On 6/25/20, The Nederland Police Department investigated an Auto Theft, Criminal Trespass and Theft that resulted in several felony charges. The suspect was written a felony summons due to arrest determinants in place resulting from COVID. There was a second suspect who fled and has not been identified at the time of this report.

On 6/25/20, The Nederland Police Department and Nederland Ambulance Staff responded to a medical call in the area of Hwy 119 and East Street. It was decided by medical staff to have the victim transported by helicopter. The landing zone was established at Guercio Field. When the helicopter was on the ground a male walked out onto the field towards the helicopter. The male was confronted, detained and released with a warning.

On 6/27/20, the Nederland Police Department investigated a trespass complaint of two kayakers at Barker Reservoir that resulted in both suspects being charged with Unlawful Conduct.

On 7/2/20, the Nederland Police Department conducted a welfare check in Nederland of an intoxicated female resulting in her being required to call a sober party to act as a guardian for her child.

On 7/3/20, the Nederland Police Department investigated a disturbance in Nederland, resulting in a Trespass Affidavit being issued to an individual.

On 7/13/20, a vehicle was reported stolen from the Nederland Post Office located at 350 East Street. The suspect was later identified. The male suspect was arrested on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, for parole violation and brought to the Adam County Jail. The stolen vehicle was recovered on Thursday, July 16, 2020, in Adams County. A warrant was issued for the male suspect pertaining to the theft of the vehicle.

On 7/17/20, an assault was reported to the Nederland Police Department. The victim was transported to the hospital and the suspect was located and arrested that same day and charged with second degree assault and criminal mischief.

On 7/17/20, the Nederland Police Department investigated the theft of a dog from a yard in Nederland. There are no suspects at this time.

On 7/22/20, a Nederland officer received a case forward from Boulder PD regarding a cold Domestic Violence SBI report. The time frame is estimated sometime in June 2020. The officer was also told the victim said the assault happened at Harbor Freight, but this remains questionable. BPD associated case report # is 20-6094.The officer could not contact the victim due to cell phone issues. A text and a voice message were left, along with numerous attempts to call. At this time the case is inactivated until the victim comes forward, and the venue is determined.

On 7/24/20, a crash was reported in the area of Hwy 119 and Caribou Rd. The driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested.

On 7/27/20, the Nederland Police Department, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, and Nederland Fire Department all responded to the Nederland skate park for a male that crashed and was in need of medical attention. The male was transported to the hospital.

On 7/27/20, Nederland Police took a report of an incident in the area of 20 Lakeview Drive, Town of Nederland. A party was in need of medical attention and was transported to the hospital.

On 7/31/20, the Nederland Police Department was contacted regarding a person to be advised they were no longer welcome to at a local business. The person was contacted and advised not to go to the business.
