Nederland Police Reports - January 2026
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office had 333 calls for service in Nederland for the month of January. The calls for service included 1 ski accident, 7 alarms, 1 assault, 1 disturbance, 1 theft, 1 animal complaint, 1 child issue, 4 suspicious activities, 8 fire/medical assists, 2 trespassing complaints, 7 welfare checks, 1 sex assault, 1 weapon violation, 1 fireworks complaint, 2 frauds, 1 criminal mischief, 1 drunk person, 3 harassments, and 1 restraining order violation.
Included in the calls for service, deputies conducted approximately 335 traffic stops, responded to 4 assists, and 1 property damage accident. Not including the accidents, deputies issued approximately 274 citations and 25 written warnings.
At the request of one of the Trustees, the attached graph will show Time of Calls for Service. The time is represented using the 24-hour clock. If a time is not present, it means there were no calls for service in that hour for this month.
Calls of Note:
Fire Assist
A family with a 3-week-old infant got stuck in the elevator when the power went out. Fire was able to get the family out safely.
Suspicious Noise
A 45yo female heard a bang outside of her residence and initially thought it was a drive by shooting. After reviewing her Ring doorbell camera, she observed an unknown vehicle driving down the roadway and an unknown passenger lit a firework and dropped it out the window. A deputy located part of the firework wrapper in the roadway. No other witnesses, cameras, or evidence.
Criminal Mischief
Sometime overnight somebody set off an explosive in the restroom. No structure damage. No evidence of the device on scene.

Abandoned Vehicle
A 46yo male continues to move and park his unregistered vehicle illegally around town and on Canyon. Ticketed and will eventually be towed.
Disturbance / Disorderly Conduct
A 50yo male caused a disturbance at a restaurant. More follow up to contact the male to be trespassed and charged.
Criminal Mischief
The reporting party had her vehicle keyed while it was parked in her driveway. No suspects.
2nd Degree Assault / Strangulation / 3rd Assault
A 15yo female stated her 17yo brother was assaulted and sprayed with pepper spray by another 17yo male over the purchase of cigarettes. The 17yo suspect was arrested and jailed at the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Firework - Reckless Endangerment
Someone threw/shot a firework at the front door of the gas station. It is likely related to the other firework calls and bathroom explosions. No suspect information currently. More follow up to be completed.
Traffic
A deputy stopped a vehicle for an unregistered vehicle that was over a year old. Summons issued.
Felony Menacing / 3rd Degree Assault
A 35yo female was waiting for her friend at the gas station when she was approached by a group of 3 individuals who started a verbal argument that led to an assault. When 911 was called, a male pulled a gun and pointed it at the female. One party was issued a summons for the assault and a warrant will be obtained for the male who left the scene.
Trespass
A 46yo male was contacted for being verbally aggressive and trespassing a business. He was issued a trespass affidavit.
Warrant Arrest
A male was stopped for speeding and found to have an outstanding warrant; he was taken to jail.
Violation of Mandatory Protection Order / 3rd Degree Assault / Menacing
A 32 male was staying at his mother’s house where he is restrained. His mother kicked him out due to drug use, and he assaulted her. The next day he showed up at the house, threatening to break the door down. He was arrested and taken to jail.
Fictitious Plate / Operating Unregistered Vehicle
A vehicle was stopped for expired plates. The male driver was using the old plates from the previous owner, so they were seized.
Theft of a Firearm
A 51yo male reported that his pistol was missing and believed his 36yo ex-girlfriend hid it. She denies the accusations. Entered as stolen.
