On 1/2/20, a Nederland officer conducted a traffic stop for expired registration. The party was found to have an outstanding CJIS warrant out of Jefferson County. The party was taken into custody without incident, and transported to the Boulder County Jail. The vehicle was left on the side of the road, coned off because it was too close to the white line. The was allowed to make a couple of calls prior to being taken into custody.
On 1/4/20, Nederland Police received a phone call at the Nederland Police Department from a male party, calling to report a domestic violence situation and possible trespassing criminal mischief. Two officers arrived on scene and upon completion of an investigation and in cooperation with Nederland FD and AMR, transported a female party to Boulder County Jail with a recommendation for Mental Health Pre-file Diversion Program.
On 1/17/20, Nederland Police responded to a residence on Barker Road, Town of Nederland in an attempt to locate a male party who had a felony warrant. Prior to contacting the male party the officers obtained confirmation from the Boulder Communications Center that the warrant was still in the system. Both officers arrived on scene and made contact with the male party who was cooperative. The male party was transported to the Boulder County Jail where he was booked and lodged without incident. End of report.
1/19/20, Boulder County Communications reported a violation of protection order at a residence on Peakview Dr. Town of Nederland. The suspect is a male party and is restrained his sister is the protected party. Nederland officers were also advised by Boulder County Communications that the male party in question had gotten violent. Upon arrival and investigation it was discovered that the address listed on the protection order is Doe Trail, this is an old address. The protected party and her parents have lived at Peakview Dr., prior to Sunday, June 9, 2019. The officer submitted a warrant for DA review and received approval the same day. The male suspect had fled the home in response to a call to law enforcement and was unable to be located for more than a brief glimpse of the male party running off into the woods west of town.
On 1/21/20, a Nederland officer was dispatched to a report of theft at the B&F grocery market located at 60 Lakeview Dr. The officer arrived on scene and met with the business owner who showed surveillance footage of four teenagers entering the market; three males and one female. There was surveillance footage capturing one of the males stealing a candy bar with the help of the female. The Officer collected witness statements from employees, and placed a DVD of the surveillance footage in the case file. Recommended case status is open pending identification of the people involved and a summons for theft.
On 1/24/20, a Nederland Police officer was dispatched to the area of the 40 block of Doe Trail, after two people called the Nederland Police station to report shots heard. One caller told the officer that the shots were coming from an unknown address that was two houses to the eastl. The officer investigated and made contact with a male party who reported having been shooting on his rented property believing it to be bordering on National Forest and with a lack of awareness that he was within Town limits and therefore subject to and in violation of Municipal Code Prohibitive Use of Weapons. The male party was educated and issued a summons. Recommended case status is cleared by the summons.
On 1/30/20, a Nederland officer responded to a theft report at the B&F Mountain Market located at 60 Lakeview Drive. Upon arrival, the Officer made contact with the suspect upstairs in the manager’s office. The suspect admitted to having placed the jar of chili in the front pocket of his hoodie and forgot to put it in the basket and admitted to not being able to afford to purchase it. The suspect was issued a summons and escorted off the property and advised any future attempts to enter the store will be considered trespassing and result in arrest. The Officer requested staff record the video surveillance of the incident, in addition to completing a witness statement and a trespass notice. End of report.
On 1/30/20, Nederland Police took a report at the Nederland Police Department from a party in accompaniment of another regards to sustained assault the day before at a local school in the Town of Nederland. The party reported having been struck by another. She described the incident as well as a previous incident. The officer examined a bruise and confirmed the injury. Further investigation via interviews with witnesses and contact with suspect’s parent as well as the victim’s parent resulted in the arrest of the male suspect for third degree assault and domestic violence. After some resistance, the suspect was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The female victim and her parent were directed to Victim Advocacy Program.
On 1/31/20, a Nederland officer received a complaint from the Nederland Town Hall regarding a male party phoning staff and causing them to feel threatened and harassed. The suspect was verbally abusive to staff and used an aggressive and heightened tone while communicating with staff. The officer made contact with the suspect via phone and in person at a public location requested by the suspect while in accompaniment with an Edge Program crisis worker to evaluate his condition and complaints. The officer made an appointment with the suspect to enable him to file his formal complaint report with NPD. The suspect was informed of the trespass order filed against him by the Town Administrator due to his threatening behavior. Recommended case status is closed.
