On 2/10/20, Nederland Police took a walk in report from a male regarding a theft at a local residence. The male stated that a new pair of Armada Skis, a North Face Jacket and Pants, Snowboard boots, and a house key were all stolen while he was out of town. The value of the property totals approximately $700.
On 2/11/20, a Nederland Police Officer was dispatched to contact via telephone reference a cold hit and run to her vehicle parked on East First Street.
On 2/11/20, a Dodge Grand Caravan smashed into the business next to the Nederland Police Department due to a medical emergency occurring to a passenger. A Nederland Officer performed CPR on the passenger until Nederland Fire could arrive and take over care and transport of the patient. Insurance claims were filed for damages and no charges were filed.
On 2/14/20, Nederland Police received a report of trespassing on a resident’s property in Big Springs Subdivision. The resident property owner witnessed the trespass multiple times by a male party approaching his home and snowboarding on his property despite being told several times to cease and desist. An investigation is underway.
On 2/14/20, Nederland Police with assistance by the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office attended to a motor vehicle accident on Shelf Road involving three vehicles. The first vehicle had gotten stuck, the second vehicle stopped to assist the first, and the third vehicle crashed into the second vehicle. Due to the severity of the weather conditions that day which created tremendous hazards in response to the accident, a Nederland Officer was injured and all motor vehicle occupants were transported to the Nederland High School for follow up with Ned PD as well as medical while the vehicles were cleared from the roadway. After completing the accident scene, the injured Nederland Officer was transported to BCH for medical treatment of his own injuries.
On 2/22/20, Nederland Police and Fire, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and the Deputy Coroner were called to a local residence in response to a report of a death. The victim had been house sitting with two friends and was found unresponsive in the hot tub in the morning. The case remains open pending autopsy results, however no foul play was in evidence.
On 2/22/20, a Nederland Officer was present at the time a female suspect was contacted by staff at the B&F Market as she was leaving the store. The suspect had stolen items stuffed in her coat pockets and down the back of her pants totaling over $60.00 of stolen items on her person. She also did some shopping and paid for those items. A summons was issued into Nederland Municipal Court for theft.
On 2/27/20, a Nederland Officer was dispatched to a residence on Sundance Circle for a disturbance between a male and female party. Upon investigation, the two were separated and gave individual statements. It was discovered that the origin of the disturbance was at a restaurant in Boulder and therefore the case was transferred to the Boulder Police Department. Recommended case status is open pending follow-up interview with the female party.
On 2/29/20, a Nederland Officer was dispatched to phone a male party regarding a report of fraud. The male party stated that on February 27 he received a phone call from a man who identified himself as “John” from CenturyLink. John told him that they had received numerous complaints about slow internet connections. John was calling to upgrade the reporting party’s modem remotely. The call came from the phone number 205-315-3665. The caller gave a convincing enough story to obtain access to the reporting party’s bank account to “pay” for services done remotely. The reporting party was able to contact his credit union to report the fraud and shut down his bank card with a new one reissued. The fraudulent party used the bank card to make several purchases on Amazon Prime before the card was shut down.
On 2/29/20, Nederland Police received an emailed complaint regarding aggressive and dangerous behavior experienced by a staff member at a local preschool interacting with a parent. Due to the incident, the Director of the Center filled out a Trespass Affidavit which has been added to this case file. The officer left a voicemail for the parent in question to call me. Recommended case status is open pending notification to the parent and submittal to the Boulder County Dispatch Center.
On 2/29/20, Nederland Police received a report of a male party reportedly removing a female party’s credit card from her purse while living with her. He reportedly used it several times for alcohol and cigarettes. Suspect was summoned into county court.
