Nederland Police Reports, March 2026
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office had 329 calls for service in Nederland for the month of March. The calls for service included 5 alarms, 1 disturbance, 2 thefts, 6 animal complaints, 2 harassments, 11 welfare checks, 3 criminal mischiefs, 3 frauds, 3 trespassing, 6 suspicious activities, 1 child issue, 1 burglary, 2 DUIs, 10 fire assists, 10 medical calls, and 1 warrant arrest.
Including in the calls for service, deputies conducted approximately 270 traffic stops, responded to 6 assists, and 4 property damage/unknown injury/hit and run accidents. Not including the accidents, deputies issued approximately 194 citations and 9 written warnings.
At the request of one of the Trustees, the attached graph will show Time of Calls for Service. The time is represented using the 24-hour clock. If a time is not present, it means there were no calls for service in that hour for this month.
Calls of Note:
Welfare Check
A welfare check was requested on a female. The female was found lethargic and unable to respond. Animal Protection assisted with the deceased dog and 2 dehydrated cats.
Mental Health Crisis
A youth exhibited suicidal behavior, was evaluated and transported to the hospital.
Throwing of Missiles / Urinating in Public
A white truck was observed swerving, the witness had an alcoholic beverage thrown at his truck. The white truck pulled over, and a female urinated behind a bush. Additional follow up was conducted but unable to identify suspects.
Dog Bite
Report of a dog bite, victim was bitten in the face. Animal protection is completing follow-up.
Harassment
A male and female continue to harass a town employee and town hall. Charges are pending in multiple cases, and a protection order may be sought.
Mental Health Crisis
A female was found unresponsive, was treated and transported to the hospital.
Fictitious Plates
A vehicle had a temporary tag from 2024, they were confiscated.
Hit and Run
A Toyota was side swiped that left damage to the bumper and lift gate. More follow up to identify the run vehicle.
Fraud
A scammer placed an ad on Craigslist showing a residence as an available rental. The ad has since been deleted with no suspect information.
No plates / Eluding / Reckless Endangerment,
Two individuals on a sport bike were pumping gas. The bike did not have plates, when the deputy initiated a traffic stop, it eluded. Suspects were identified with credit card information. More follow up to be completed for warrants.
Expired License / Unregistered Vehicle / Uninsured Motorist
Observed a vehicle with 2023 tags parked on 1st Street. While the deputy was writing a parking ticket, the driver drove away. His license was expired, had no insurance, and the vehicle was not registered. He was summoned and his license was seized.
Suspicious
A reporting party said an unknown individual had taken a neighbor’s dog for a walk while the neighbor was out. A deputy investigated and could not confirm if the dog was taken and walked and if the property was trespassed. The reporting party admitted they may have been confused. Extra patrols have been completed.
Theft
Political signs for a local candidate were stolen from the yards of supporters. There are no suspects/leads.
