Nederland Police Reports - 25-10
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office had 245 calls for service in Nederland for the month of October. The calls for service included 5 animal complaints, 4 alarms, 2 suspicious activity, 16 fire/medical assists, 3 trespassing complaints, 5 welfare checks, 3 criminal mischiefs, 1 fraud, 2 structure/smoke fires, 1 auto theft, 1 assault, 1 burglary, 2 disturbances, 1 domestic violence, 3 harassments, and 2 noise complaints.

Including in the calls for service, deputies conducted approximately 175 traffic stops, responded to 15 assists, and 8 property damage / injury / unknown / hit and run accidents. Not including the accidents, deputies issued approximately 103 citations and 5 written warnings.
At the request of one of the Trustees, the attached graph will show Time of Calls for Service. The time is represented using the 24-hour clock. If a time is not present, it means there were no calls for service in that hour for this month.
Calls of Note:
Lost / Stolen Property
A 34yo female either lost or had her Apple MacBook Pro M3 stolen.
Suspended license / Expired license plates / No insurance
A female driver was ticketed with expired registration from 2022.
Speeding / No insurance
An 18yo driver was speeding 55mph in a 25mph zone with the previous owner’s temporary tag. No proof of insurance. Summonsed to court and the plate and registration were seized.
Disturbance
A 63yo female had a verbal altercation with her 43yo neighbor. No indication an assault occurred, and deputies tried to mediate the ongoing issues.
Theft from Fraud
A 46yo male was scammed into sending crypto currency via PayPal. He gave $2,140 to a caller out of Puerto Rico. No suspect leads.
Large Structure Fire
A deputy saw a large structure fire on the entire second floor of the Caribou Village shopping center. Fire crews contained the fire to the main two-story complex. Detectives, Fire, ATF, and CBI have cleared the scene and will provide an update once the final determination of origin and cause has been reached.
Property Damage Accident
A male driver had a medical episode while driving his truck. He went over the curb and T-boned a parked, unoccupied vehicle. The truck was drivable, and the driver was transported to the hospital.
Fictitious Plates
A 52yo male driver was stopped for no license plates. He stated he was a Colorado Nationalist and was traveling. He was summonsed to court.
Property Damage Crash
A 70yo driver pulled out in front of a tourist from Missouri, where they impacted, smashing out her window. They pulled into the visitor center parking lot for further investigation. The driver was summonsed to court.
Criminal Impersonation
A male was scammed into sending out a contact list then the scammer tried to get him to purchase gift cards. No gift cards were purchased, and no protected information was stolen.
Hit and Run
A cold hit and run was called in that resulted at the time with no suspect leads. The next day, the 58 yo male suspect that hit the road signs lied to his wife and told her a story that he was the hit vehicle and another vehicle ran. She called dispatch to report that story, but it did not add up. The suspect eventually admitted to the crash but was more worried about his wife finding out the truth. He was summonsed.
Civil-Mediation
Ongoing neighbor dispute. The conflict involves complaints about marijuana smoke and motorcycle noise. The case has been referred to mediation for follow-up.
Reckless Driving / Speeding
While deputies were out doing follow up where a fatal accident occurred the previous day, a driver was speeding 58mph in a posted 25mph zone. A parent was contacted, and the minor driver was summonsed into court.
Welfare Check
Two parties requested a welfare check on a drunk male they assisted in getting home. Deputies were able to make contact with the male who appeared fine and did not need any further assistance.
Protection Order Violation
A male called to report that his ex-girlfriend who is restrained from him did not return his vehicle because she crashed the vehicle while driving under the influence and hid from law enforcement the day before. The female party is at large on warrants for the accident and the protection order violation.
Eluding
A deputy observed a black Audi Q5 traveling 51mph in a 25mph zone. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but it eluded them.
Traffic - Fictitious Plates
A 36yo driver was stopped for expired plates. The vehicle was never titled in Colorado. Last registered 10/21 in Oregon. Plates belonged to a different vehicle. Plates removed and summons issued.
Theft
A 40yo male was paid to build a deck that did not get built. The victim tried to handle it through a payment plan but that did not work. More follow-up and charges will be filed.
Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision
A 51yo male was at the stop sign on the south side of 119 attempting to turn west. A 26yo male was on a motorcycle traveling eastbound. The 51yo driver turned in front of the motorcycle driver who succumbed to his injuries upon impact. Colorado State Patrol assisted deputies and detectives with the investigation. The investigation is still open.
Trespass Written Warning
A 46yo male admitted to trespassing on a businesses’ property. He was issued a trespass warning at the request of the owner.
Camping Violation
A 50yo female has been camping in her tan van for a while now on private property. She was argumentative about leaving, she was issued a summons for a camping violation. The property owner was able to get her towed out of town.
