The unofficial abstract of votes was posted by town officials at 10 p.m. with a total of 504 eligible ballots received (with four signatures needing to be verified). Mayoral Candidate Billy Giblin received 311 votes, winning over Tom Mahowald, who received 172 votes. Mahowald will continue to serve on the Board of Trustees (BOT).
For the four available seats on the BOT, Nichole Sterling earned 333 votes and will serve another four year term on the Board. Luke Miller received 290 votes for a four year term, Kristopher Larsen received 289 votes for a four year term, and Aaron Tye received 273 votes for a two year term.
Jesse Seavers received 246 votes, John Stevens received 120, and Riley McCallister received 113.
On the Advisory Ballot Question No. 1, which asked “would you support the Town permitting the construction of an asphalt pump track in Chipeta Park between the basketball court and parking lot,” 286 people voted “no” and 196 voted “yes.”
The Town also received votes for write-in candidates for both the position of Trustee and Mayor. For the position of Mayor, Ron Mitchell received two write-in votes, Jae Gormley received one vote, Fred the Cat received one vote, Joshua Davis received one vote, and Demon Shaw received one vote.
For the position of Trustee, Steve Cepek received two write-in votes, Jae Gormley received one vote, Billy Giblin received one vote, and the Three Stooges, Larry, Curly, and Moe, all together received one vote.
The official results for Nederland’s 2024 Municipal Election will be posted on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
