Takira Weise has been going to school in Nederland since she was 11, and since joining, she has loved the incredibly inclusive community that has formed in the town. When she attended Nederland Elementary, she remembers the carnival they put on every year, along with the community welcoming her with open arms.
In 9th, 10th, and 12th grade, she joined the Nordic skiing team, and in 12th grade, she also joined the cross country team. She is passionate about skiing and running, and she also happens to be passionate about baking and the game Candy Crush.
She loved taking the anatomy and physiology, photography, and biotech classes that were offered at the high school. She loved making new friends and spending time with them during her high school career. Along with attending school at Nederland Middle-Senior High School, she briefly worked at B&F before taking another job in Boulder.
She cites Alberto Real as a teacher who has inspired her and made her high school career more worthwhile, and she has also cited fellow graduate Madi Brewer as being a student who has made her life better during her time in high school. To other students who are planning to attend the high school, she recommends that students recognize that rumors can spread fast at a small school, that they turn in their math homework on time, and most importantly, that they should just be themselves because they will find their own group that will carry them through the tumultuous years.
Weise plans on attending Front Range Community College for two years. She is also considering either staying at the college to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or transferring to a university afterward depending on what major she ultimately decides to choose. While she will miss the more chill atmosphere that high school has compared to college and seeing her friends every day, she is excited for the next chapter of her journey.
Congratulations to Takira on her graduation and for moving on to the next stage of her life!
