The April 2, 2024, municipal election is fast approaching, and there’s only a month and a half to get to know the seven candidates for Nederland Board of Trustees (BOT) and the two candidates for the position of Mayor of Nederland.
This year’s election is particularly important as there are four Trustee seats to fill, assuring that those elected will serve Nederland for the next four years as a mostly new Board. 2024 and 2025 are set to be an exciting time for the BOT, as large development projects and needed infrastructure improvements are on the agenda.
The Mountain-Ear reached out to the seven candidates for Trustee: Kristopher Larsen, Riley McCallister, Luke Miller, Jesse Seavers, Nichole Sterling, John Stevens, and Aaron Tye. We also approached the two Mayoral candidates, Billy Giblin and Tom Mahowald. The candidates told us a little bit about themselves and answered our questions regarding their platforms in their Candidates Profiles, which can be viewed online by scanning the QR code above.
On Monday, March 4, 2024, the Nederland community will get their chance to ask candidates their own questions at the Meet the Candidates Forum. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Nederland Community Center, candidates will answer curated questions from the community, as well as whatever questions arise from an informal open Q&A session.
If you have a question, or several, that you would like to address to either the Trustee or Mayoral candidates, email them to p2pcandidatequestions@gmail.com by Thursday, February 29, 2024. Then be sure to attend the Candidates Forum and follow The Mountain-Ear to hear the candidates’ answers.
