Nederland Community Presbyterian Church recently hosted its annual garden planting event. Founded in 1916, the church has long been a pillar of the community, fostering a sense of belonging and providing support for Nederland residents.
The garden planting event furthers a broader effort to modernize the church's facilities and better cater to the needs of the community. Led by church volunteers, the revitalization project aims to create a more welcoming and functional space for community activities and gatherings, including a new intimate wedding venue.
"We're thrilled to be able to open up this fantastic space to the wider community,” said volunteer Jane Bloom. "We want this to be a community space for everyone, one that can be used for a regular meeting or a family wedding."
The church recently transformed its event space into the Sanctuary at Caribou Gardens. This distinction emphasizes the space's versatility, making it more welcoming to individuals and groups of varied backgrounds. With updated amenities and improved facilities, the Sanctuary at Caribou Gardens is now poised to host a wide range of events, from small gatherings to larger celebrations. The creekside Caribou Gardens provide a picturesque outdoor setting for an intimate ceremony with loved ones.
In addition to physical upgrades, the church is fostering increased community engagement by welcoming outside groups and local nonprofits into its space. From hosting weddings and small gatherings, to serving as a venue for support groups and providing workspace for locals, the church's commitment to community support is evident.
This commitment will be further showcased on June 22 during the second annual Neder-Day of Art, when the church will host an art gallery event from 3-5 p.m. open to the entire community.
The recent garden planting event is one of several phases of the broader revitalization initiative highlighting Nederland Community Church's longstanding dedication to serving and supporting the residents of Nederland. As the project progresses, the church looks forward to continuing its role as a place of support, unity, and connection for the community.
