On the evening of May 17, 2023, Nederland’s Class of 2023 and their families gathered in the Panther gymnasium for the 2023 Senior Banquet. It is an annual event where the graduates are recognized for their perseverance and dedication. As well as their achievements that have brought them to this graduation week.

This class was very active in sports, music, theater, and so many extra curricular activities. They set high goals for themselves which is clear when they each said what they plan to do in the future. They have clear goals for technical school, work, and universities.

Students were recognized by teachers for their dedication and extraordinary effort in classes. Some local scholarships were given. Many students have also earned scholarships at the schools they will be attending in the fall.

Then the students recognized people who have been especially meaningful to them throughout their life and in high school. The White Rose Dedications are always deeply touching. Teachers, parents, and siblings were honored with a white rose and heartfelt words of gratitude.

Principal Gavan Goodrich called up each graduate, and he had them all line up in the front. He said something positive that he knew about each student and something that they have contributed to Nederland High School. This is especially impressive since Mr. Goodrich is in his first year at Nederland Middle Senior High School (NMSHS). It was a beautiful gesture to demonstrate how each graduate matters and is seen at NMSHS.
