William Mead, Nederland. GOCO, also known as the Great Outdoors Colorado, announced on March 15 that $145,443 worth of grants have been awarded to recipients in Boulder County. Louisville, Nederland and Jamestown have all received a grant.
The City of Louisville has been allocated $75,000 to conduct a feasibility study that aims to pinpoint strategies for improving pedestrian and bike access.
The Town of Jamestown received $25,443 for the construction of a greenhouse that will be located at Cal-Wood Education Center.
The Town of Nederland was awarded a $45,000 grant, which will be used to upgrade the trails and amenities at Chipeta Park. One of the key components of the enhancement plan is to improve access for those with disabilities by following ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards. The trail will be widened and also extended around the youth fishing pond. In addition to the alterations on the trails, the fishing dock will be restored to meet ADA standards.
Nederland will also use the funds from the grant to implement more educational signage throughout the park, hoping to highlight local wildlife. 10 new benches will be added, along with new picnic tables that comply with ADA standards. The remaining funds will be used for landscaping improvements.
