Barbara Lawlor, Loveland. Last Friday, the Nederland High School alpine ski team traveled to Loveland Ski Area to participate in their first meet of the season. As the skiers and participants left the bitter cold, grey, snowy weather of the Nederland area, they entered a blue sky, sunshine haven at Loveland. The racers said that the course was good, not much ice, only a few ruts and a fun giant slalom run.
The girls took third place and the boys took second place.
Coach Montana Fels says, “All athletes for Nederland skied exceptionally well. We had an amazing turnout of 40 athletes, and we had over 10 qualify for state. It was a beautiful day for racing, and everyone brought their A game to the race. I am very proud of how everyone skied and am looking forward to improving in the next race.”
The Ned girls took third place with 160 points, just one point behind Platte Canyon. Evergreen took first place.
