The Endless Youth Board Shop hosted the first Nederland Skate Jam last Saturday, September 17, 2016, and the skatepark was filled with flying boards, outstretched arms and the gravelly sound of wheels on concrete.
It was an event for everyone and anyone who could come up with a board. Some young riders even sat on their skateboards and let gravity give them a ride.
The event featured six bowl classes, age categories from 10 and under to 40 and over and a women's bowl category. Three street classes were offered: novice, intermediate and expert.
Sponsored by Back Country Pizza, Chocolate Skateboards, Girl Skateboards, Moniker Artwear, Nomadic Movement and Powell and Bones, the prizes were stationed on the skatepark hill and winners were allowed to choose from the high quality items offered.
Many local Nederland children competed in the event as well as riders from the flatlands who heard that Ned had a great skatepark.
