The year is unknown but it happened in the town of Nederland, Colorado. It started on a bright sunny day in late fall when the idea came to a local woman resident.
She reserved the community room in the Nederland library and shared her idea with a few lady friends. Her vision was met with big wows, a lot of ahs and everyone thought it a great plan.
On the first Tuesday of every month women from Nederland, Eldora, Gold Hill, Rollinsville, Black Hawk, Longmont and every direction in between met at a restaurant to socialize and enjoy lunch.
Few months passed and the ladies first Valentine Day luncheon approached. The stylish ladies decided to dress in the appropriate color.
On Cupid’s Day at the appointed time and restaurant the women entered adorned in something red. Hats, shoes, blouses, scarves something red was worn by the women in the group, that is how Ned Reds was created.
Years rolled by and many Ned Reds ladies moved to warmer climates, visiting Nederland and surrounding cities during the summer months.
The strong Colorado spirit and love of the Rocky Mountains still prevails in the heart of Ned Reds women.
Please come, join in on conversation, a pot luck lunch, wear something red along with a smile and have a good time.
