It was a great weekend of racing for the Nederland High School Mountain Bike Team in Leadville at the Cloud City Challenge, on September 10 and 11, 2022.

The team worked hard and, as one photographer put it, they had the biggest smiles of any team at the race. Nederland is now sitting in second place in the D3 division, and they’re determined to catch Estes Park at the next race in Steamboat Springs on September 24 - 25.

The team had grown significantly under the wisdom of head coach, Allison Powers. Nederland is lucky to have such an accomplished cyclist and coach for their high school team.

Sophomore Laila Waldron was on the podium again with a 4th place finish in junior varsity girls race.

Sophomore Grayson Shurr moved up a spot on the podium also with a fourth place finish in the sophomore boys race.

Senior Hayden Camp got 23th in the varsity boys race.

Freshman Halle Peiffer got 11th in the freshman girls race.

Freshman Samuel Harkness got 27th in the freshman boys race.

Senior Ezekiel Fitzer got 45th in the junior varsity boys race.

Sophomore Grizzly Steuck got 58th in his first high school competition in the sophomore boys race.

Freshman Gary Koziel got 64th in the freshman boys race.

Everyone rocked their races!
