The Nederland High School Panther girls won their game against the Denver Academy Mustangs last Tuesday, February 13, 29-6. The Ned girls ended their regular season with a 3-14 record.
The game began with Karen Sorokach scoring a field goal and then another one. She was followed by Breegan McClish and Lily Lindstrom to take a sizable lead and only allow one free throw point to the Mustangs. Karen and Breegan scored the next four points in the second quarter and the halftime score was 12-1. Denver Academy still had only one point on the scoreboard until the fourth quarter when their shooting began hitting the mark, but Panthers Linnaea Thibedeau, Alex Sorokach and Karen Sorokach put up points, with Alex
Sorokach sinking a three pointer in the last 10 seconds.
It was a great win for the two seniors Karen Sorokach and Linnaea Thibedeau who said goodbye to their high school basketball career in their last, regular season game. Each of the girls were presented flowers and honored by the spectators, their coaches and their parents, who stood with them for half-time pictures.
Karen Sorokach was high scorer with eight points, followed by her sister Alex, who had seven points and 10 steals.
