In the past week, the Nederland High School girls’ basketball team has played three games, two away and one home with three losses.
On January 5, 2018, the Panthers played Denver Christian Thunder who won, 15-48, starting out with a 16-0 lead in the first quarter. The Ned girls fought hard in the second quarter, outscoring the Thunder, 12-11, but lost their momentum in the second half.

Last Tuesday, January 9, 2018, Nederland hosted the Twin Peaks Timberwolves, made a great fourth quarter comeback and almost tied the game in the 27-31 loss. The Panthers led 9-4 in the first quarter but the Timberwolves, in a few fast breaks, answered with five points and the first quarter ended in a 9-9 tie. The Ned girls faltered in the second quarter and ended up eight points behind. They worked hard to make it up, but not soon enough.
Senior Karen Sorokach cashed in another double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Linnaea Thibedeau led the rebounding with 12 grabs.
