GLENWOOD SPRINGS - The Nederland High School Mountain Bike Team capped off an amazing season by earning 10th place in Division Two out of 26 teams at State Championships in Glenwood Springs this past weekend.
A record number of twelve riders qualified for state this year and they described the course as one of the most technical of the season. Along with some grueling uphills, the racers had to stay laser focused on the long downhill section–which was filled with challenging berms and tight switchbacks.
Jonny Moss finally had a mechanical–free race, coming in at an impressive 9th place out of 151 sophomore boys. Amika Begin moved up four spots to grab 12th place out of 110 JV girls, while Maddie Perry moved up seventeen spots and grabbed 20th in the same race. Codi Waldron moved up an impressive twelve spots in the sophomore girls’ race.
The freshmen riders—Legend Teller, Felix Miller, Tyler Begin, Caiden Stackpole, Nathan Sibray, and Oscar Toorenburg—all worked hard and each had a great ending to the 2025 race season.
And finally, our senior riders, Samuel Harkness and Enzo Shows, both dug deep and finished strong in the last races of their high school careers.
Coach Alison Powers said that, “This felt like the most impressive State Championships we’ve had as a team so far.”
A final shout-out to our sponsors–thanks so much to Nederland Veterinary Hospital, Eldora, Justin’s, Rudy’s, Fitzer Electrical Contracting, and Tin Shed Sports.
Mountain biking is now the largest sport at Nederland Middle-Senior High, filled with both riders who thrive on competing and also those who just love to ride and have fun with their friends. We’d love to see your kids out there on the trails!
