Pie, Pie, Pie, oh, how we all love pie. But do you know what’s better than just pie? Free pie! And what event has free pie once a year? The pie contest at your local Nederland Community Library.
The pies are baked by members of our local community. People enter their wonderful edible masterpieces into one of four categories: Sweet (Youth), Sweet, Savory, and Dietary Restrictions.
The pies are delivered to the library, and then the community (that could be you) tastes whichever pies they want and vote for their favorites.
This year’s winners are:
Sweet: John Hettich, Key Lime Pie.
Sweet (youth): Ember Eich, Key Lime Coconut Pie.
Savory: Natalie Duplessy, Curry Chicken Pot Pie.
Dietary Restricted: Sara Higgins, Chocolate Pistachio Pie (GF/DF).
Library Director, Elektra Greer, stated “Participants donated generously in the spirit of Thanksgiving for the joint Food Pantry-Library Reading Garden fundraiser.”
There were many great pies and we hope to see even more next year!
