The Nederland Fire Department Auxiliary hosted a National Night Out on August 2, 2022. It was a time to meet the Nederland firefighters and build neighborhood camaraderie. The kids enjoyed getting into a fire truck, getting their faces painted and playing at Chipeta Park.
A representative from the Town of Nederland’s Parks, Recreation, & Open Space Advisory Board was also there talking to folks. Live music was enjoyed.
National Night Out is a time when community members and first responders can build positive relationships with each other without the stress of an emergency going on. It is a time for kids to meet firefighters and see the trucks up close so maybe they will not seem so scary if they ever have to encounter them in a stressful situation.
It was a relaxing summer evening with a wonderful community spirit vibe.
The Nederland Fire Department is currently looking for volunteers. If you are interested you can read more about it on their website at www.nfpd.org.
