Thirty-five-year-old singer-songwriter Robby Wicks is an inspiration to anyone looking to write music of their own. Teaching himself acoustic guitar and songwriting from the age of ten, he released his full work of original music when he was 19 and has been involved in no less than three bands -- The Jives, The Way Low Down, and The Robby Wicks Band.

The Way Low Down released their only album, Take One, in 2010 and broke up shortly after. After breaking up with The Way Low Down and a serious girlfriend, Wicks started writing a song every day from October 2010 to October 2011, improving his songwriting craft. Shortly after, he formed his self-titled band with another guitarist and released the full-length album Songs from the Biltmore under the band’s name in 2013.

Eventually, Wicks decided to work on his own solo gigs, playing shows across Denver and the Colorado mountains. He recently moved to Central City with his current girlfriend, falling in love with the mountainous landscape.

The son of a military family, Wicks credits moving around frequently with allowing him to increase his versatility in instruments and styles. Also making friends as he played their favorite songs at request and teaching himself new chords along the way.

Since COVID-19 started, Wicks has primarily focused on practicing his own music, continuing to write songs and working on covers. He hasn’t booked many official shows since COVID regulations went into place, but he has been found playing most weekends at the newly founded Levit Street Market, which was first held on May 9, 2021.

Wicks’ drive and work ethic with songwriting is impressive to say the least, and that dedication and passion will surely show at the Levit Street Market.

Come see Robby Wicks perform at the Levit Street Market, which (contrary to its spelling) runs through Leavitt Street in Central City every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from now until Halloween 2021.
