Miles Ridnell has grown up in Nederland playing music, especially since his father, Jon, also plays music. They play together under the moniker New Family Dog, under which they released an album titled Cherish in 2019. Ridnell has always been exposed to his father playing music, but even in school, he was surrounded by music, as he joined cello recitals in his third-grade year.

Among his influences, Ridnell cites bassist Victor Wooten as a major one. He plays all different kinds of music by himself and with his father, but in particular, they have found themselves focusing on blues music. He loves being able to see the crowd’s reactions to the music they play, and he loves being able to experiment with all different styles of music.

He hopes that people are able to dance and have fun at his shows, and he looks forward to seeing people react to the way he plays. He says to look forward to a CD that he and his dad will be releasing in the near future and to keep an eye out on www.newfamilydog.com and New Family Dog on Facebook for updates on the record and on upcoming gigs.
