Many of the members of Mile Hi Groove Band were originally members of a different band. Rolf Estrella, who had dreamed of being a rock star since he was a kid, joined this new band after a previous member of the band called him and asked if he wanted to be a part of the project. He started guitar lessons at a young age, and he was inspired by bands such as Def Leppard, AC/DC, and Motley Crue.

Along with him, the band currently consists of Jess Hurley, Chris George, Ryan Rister, and Roz Taylor. Estrella plays the keyboard and guitar, George plays drums, Rister plays guitar, Taylor plays bass, and all of the band members (especially Hurley) sing lead and backing vocals.

Hurley has always loved to sing, participating in choirs from a young age. She grew up on country music, but she didn’t really get into music until she moved to Denver. It was there that she decided to try out for a cover band, and after she was accepted, she ended up learning about a lot of music during her time there. Though she occasionally dabbles in piano, ukulele, and guitar, she is a vocalist first and foremost.

When Mile Hi first started out, they knew that they wanted to focus on music that people would love to dance to. They are a cover band, and they play everything from Lady Gaga to The Zac Brown Band to Aretha Franklin and even Rage Against the Machine, depending on what the venue calls for.

Hurley loves it when everybody ends up getting into the music at their shows, and you can clearly tell when they’re having fun. Estrella loves the fact that they can bring four hours of fun to an enthusiastic crowd, and Hurley loves being able to see that people are enthused about when their next show is. They hope that anybody that comes to their shows takes away that sense of fun.
