A Human Named David’s core belief is that music is an inherent part of all of us. He is completely apolitical, seeing himself simply as a human being that lives on Planet Earth. His stage name embraces this idea, allowing him to present himself as just like everyone else. He hates the idea of classifying music by genre, instead encouraging people to pay attention to the messages artists communicate through who they are as people and how they write.
At his live events, he brings people together through the power of music. He plays piano and guitar and experiments with electronic production. His most inherent desire is to create art that reflects his own philosophies and ideals. He has released four studio albums. He has also recently published his first book, I Love Death, which centers around embracing mortality.
As a person, David is incredibly positive, optimistic, and unabashedly neutral about the world. He believes that people should be able to express themselves, find ways to come together, and celebrate the joy of art. Conversations with him about his ideologies are fascinating, and as a person and a musician, he is captivating. It’s terrifying for any artist to express themselves, much less be confident enough in themselves to stand by their beliefs no matter how strange they may seem at first. A Human Named David has absolutely found that confidence in himself.
You can also find his website at ahumannameddavid.com and find his albums wherever you listen to music. You can catch A Human Named David performing at Very Nice Brewing Company, 20 Lakeview Drive #112 in Nederland on July 31, 2021, at 6 p.m.
