Sara Van Valkenburgh, Nederland. Coming to the Caribou Room on March 7, 2020, is the insanely talented multi-instrumentalist Keller Williams. If you’ve never seen Keller perform live, this is one you don’t want to miss. Using live looping, he single-handedly creates the sound of a full band, described as improvisational, bluegrass influenced, “acoustic dance music.” He has given his own quirky spin to classics by Jerry Garcia, The Grateful Dead and Tom Petty through his side projects in which he ventures beyond his solo success, with Grateful Grass and Pettygrass, as well as his six-piece funk band known as More Than a Little.
Well known for his work with flatpicker Larry Keel and bassist Jenny Keel, Williams has released three albums with them, as Keller and the Keels, their most recent being SPEED. The trio offers a “fun collection of pop and rock songs” that have been changed up a bit by the familiar fast-fingered bluegrass they are all known for.
As an extremely hard working and prolific song writer and musician, Keller released his first album in 1994 and has since released over 20 albums, each with a single syllable name, such as FREEK, his first, then many more such as HOME, DANCE, STAGE, GRASS, and even a kids album simply titled, KIDS.
His personal biography states that Williams has “defined the term independent artist.” Come out and see this for yourself on March 7, 2020, at the Caribou Room in Nederland. For more information, visit thecaribouroom.com or kellerwilliams.net.
