Lisa Ezra & Sara Sandstrom-Kobi, Peak to Peak. After a nearly two-year hiatus, the Caribou Room is thrilled to announce the return of The Malai Llama to the stage. Their local roots, the band hails from Rollinsville, and experimental fusion of dance, funk, rock, jazz, and jam, have made them long-time fan favorites of the mountain music scene. The band has expanded since 2013 to include Steven Govanlu (keyboards, guitar, lead vocals), Chris Cornwall (drums), John DeSousa (bass, trombone, vocals), and Matt Flaherty (guitar, vocals).
Technically dialed in but with the overriding flavor of jam, the Malai Llama alternates effortlessly between both downtempo and throw down dance party vibes, all while inspiring the groove with their particular style freeform improvisation. The band feels newly connected and inspired after the break, and you can expect that enthusiasm to translate to the dance floor.
