Stephanie Andelman, Nederland. The Sam Chase & The Untraditional hails from San Francisco. Led by Sam Chase, the band blends rock ‘n roll and folk music while maintaining the sensibilities and attitudes gained from growing up on a healthy diet of punk rock.
Sam is sensitive and gruff at the same time in equal doses, thus “sensigruff.” He is a natural storyteller with a booming voice, treating crowds to evenings of hilarious tales, drinking songs and soul-baring ballads. With boot stomping orchestration and lyrics that have been immortalized on the tattooed skin of their fans, The Sam Chase & The Untraditional doesn’t mess around. They have released three LPs and performed at many big festivals across the nation, including Outside Lands, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, High Sierra Music Festival and Kate Wolf Music Festival. When Sam isn’t sharing the stage with Brothers Comatose, Willy Tea Taylor, The Soft White Sixties and others, he and the band are winning awards as the best singer-songwriter or best band in the Bay Area. These troubadour-rockers are mesmerizing, joyful and hilarious. This is a must-see free show for a traveling band that wanted an amusing stop in our little town.
