Uncle Barnaby is set to play this Friday, June 21, 2019, at The Very Nice Brewing Company, in Nederland.
Originally, Uncle Barnaby was a duo comprised of Vietnam veteran and frontline protester, David Stumph, and fellow vet, Rich Raitano. They formed the band in Chicago during the late 60s, inspired by unrest and social change. Together they quickly rose to become part of the iconic Chicago folk scene. This is the same era that saw the beginnings of John Prine and Steve Goodman, among many other greats.
After a 40-year hiatus, Uncle Barnaby has once again started performing throughout the Denver area. Only this time it is David Stumph playing as a solo artist. Stumph carries on the band name he and Raitano created many years ago. To date, he continues to deliver a superb blend of timeless lyrics. He has earned the reputation of “the storyteller,“ through his performance that can best be described as “folk music with soul.”
