Cynthia D. Chambers, Peak to Peak
This weekend at The Caribou Room, an all-star ensemble going by the name of Steely Dead brings a musical hybrid of the Grateful Dead and Steely Dan to the mountains. Steely Dead is not a traditional tribute band, more so they are inspired by the music in such a way to deliver it back with a new and equal amount of energy.
Their delivery is best described as, “the arrangement and studio recordings of rock legends Steely Dan, cross-pollinated with the Grateful Dead’s free flowing, melodic improvisation and masterful song segues.”
Concert goers can expect a merging of these two major contributors of music throughout the night while the influence of each individual band still remains strong. No matter if you are a fan of one or both, people will have an unexpected treat of musical talent and tribute throughout the night.
If you would like to take a listen or to learn more about Steely Dead, visit their website at www.steelydead.com.
