The Levit Street Market will wrap up the 2022 season with a special event on Sunday, October 30, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The second annual “Trunk or Treat at Levit Street” will feature activities for kids, costume contests, lots of candy, and more! This will be alongside some of the vendors from the summertime, and two food trucks, Henny’s Hot Chicken, and Boba T’s!
A couple of years ago, Mayor Jeremy Fey came up with an idea to create a weekend attraction to get more people to stop by Central City on their travels. The Levit Street Market was born in 2021 with a goal of bringing vendors and artisans together in one Central City location. With the help of colleagues and other locals, the weekly market was a hit, providing a community gathering spot with live music, food, and handmade goods on display. Alongside Mayor Fey, the core team bringing the market to life consisted of Jack Van Son, Mark Jerome, Jules Korman, and Robby Wicks.
One idea for 2023 includes the possibility of an every-other-week market. The market would offset the current Nederland Farmer’s Market, which just closed out their fifth year. This and other collaborative ideas can help all of the businesses in the Peak to Peak not only survive, but thrive. Allowing vendors the option of going back and forth, without going down the hill, increases exposure to all of our communities.
Levit Street manager Jules Korman says, “we are about to conclude our second year as an established market, and the 2022 season provided us a lot of perspective! It’s a labor of love for most of us who are involved, and we have to work together to continually seek ways to expand and improve what we’ve started. Our goals include bringing new, consistent shoppers and visitors to Central City, providing an engaging, sustainable gathering place for all ages, and growing into something this community can be proud of!”
If you like Halloween, if you’re a kid or just a kid at heart, be sure to check out the Trunk or Treat event, taking place around the 300 Block of Gregory Street, between Central City and Black Hawk. Some vendors in attendance will be The Sourdough Lady, selling her (locally famous) bread and Halloween cookies; Dory Dozens with farm fresh eggs, jams, and salsas; and Jen Molo Pottery, providing a “decorate your own Halloween ornament” activity station! Plus a leather crafter, jewelry artists, a soap maker, and so much more.
This is a free event! If you’d like to be a vendor, volunteer, and/ or decorate your trunk to hand out candy, please reach out to JulesK@levitstreetmarket.com.
