This Mother’s Day, as I reflect on my journey, my heart overflows with gratitude for my two wonderful children, Ezra and Evelyn, who were born at home here in Gilpin County. A combined ninety hours of grueling labor long in the past, I feel partly sad as they grow older. Now 16 and 14, they light up my life in ways I never imagined.
Living in the Peak to Peak region, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges, from navigating snowy roads to managing a household on my own. Yet, as they’ve grown, so has their willingness to lend a hand, whether it’s helping with chores or shoveling five feet of snow. Our home in the mountains is our sanctuary, a place of peace amid the bustling world, where the sacrifices feel small compared to the joys of raising such incredible kids.
