Elisabeth Grove, Peak to Peak. Mark Cohen, who lived and practiced law in Nederland for twenty-one years, has been honored as a “Super Lawyer” for 2021. Mark also writes the Diversions column for The Mountain-Ear.
Super Lawyers is a national organization that selects attorneys based on peer nominations, peer evaluations, and independent research. Only about 5% of attorneys earn the designation. The designation is intended to recognize lawyers that have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
When not practicing law, Mark is working to grow a nonprofit he founded, The Plain English Institute (PEI). Earlier this year, PEI became the first organization in the United States to publish plain English certification standards for documents. Organizations with documents that qualify can earn a plain English certification to demonstrate their commitment to clear communications and to use in their marketing efforts.
