Dear Editor,
Since the primary elections are next month, it has come to my mind to think again clearly on the nominees for the County Commissioner’s election for District 1
Since Marie Mornis was appointed to the county commissioner’s position for the Republican Party after Web Sill’s death, she has done an excellent job! We have known Marie for some 40 years and it does not surprise us in the least that she has put her heart and soul into this job by pursuing each issue with integrity and complete diligence, always searching for the truth in all situations whether it be complex or simple. For this reason it seems Marie has run into many confrontations; for not all concerned are truth seekers, nor are all out for the common good. It is distressing that people even in her political party are blind to this fact but it is a reality to those who refuse to see beyond their own personal interests.
We also want to point out that Marie’s history as a well-educated engineer in the work force and also her work ethic, i.e. giving many years of service to her company in the past as well as serving Gilpin County as a member of the school board and working in the former Food Cooperative and now as a conscientious commissioner, show that Marie is endowed with the tenacity of a willing public servant to seek the good for the people of Gilpin County.
Taking into consideration all these reasons, it is clear to us to vote for Marie Mornis as the best and most qualified candidate for County Commissioner in District 1.
Sincerely,
Martha and Jerry Golden
