Barbara J. Thielemann, Central City. The 2021 Main Street Central City (MSCC) officers met and approved their Work Plan for 2021. MSCC is a Colorado Main Street Program under the Colorado Department of Local Affairs and the National Historic Trust. Its Mission is “to help create a unique and vibrant downtown that enriches the business community, embraces history, celebrates the arts preserves our natural environment, and promotes quality events to instill a sense of place in our community.”

All of the MSCC 2020 sponsored events were cancelled due to the pandemic restrictions in the City. Plans in 2021 are to assist with the May and September City Clean-Up Days, Gilpin Students’ May History Tour, October Pumpkin Patch and December Tommyknocker Events and business/resident Holiday Lights Contest, if and when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

MSCC will leverage its DOLA/Colorado Main Street Mini Grant Funds for an electric vehicle charging station. Plans are to utilize DOLA Architectural Services to design a pocket park between Central City City Hall and the Shoo-Fly Bar/Belvidere Building.

A market analysis of vacant buildings in the Main Street corridor, will provide information to investors and potential buyers and will make readily available online information to promote vacant properties and economic development incentives.

A special retreat will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. led by Traci Stoffel, Main Street Specialist with Colorado DOLA. If you are interested in attending, please contact MSCC Liaison, Lisa Roemhildt, 303-582-5251, extension 206.

MSCC meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Contact Reba Bechtel, Central City Clerk if interested in attending.
