LYONS — The annual Parade of Lights ran down Main Street in Lyons on Saturday, December 6, beginning at 6:30 p.m. With temperatures in the 30s, a large and rambunctiously delighted crowd of adults and children alike filled the street sides and sidewalks to overflowing.
The parade participants included first responders from Lyons and surrounding areas, local businesses, and neighborhood golf cart groups. Children scored candy from individuals on the lighted floats, some of which had live fire pits.
Live bands also played to the onlookers while floating down the street, and children donned in fairy lights danced with spirit to entertain all.
Kim Mitchell, organizer of the parade said the approximately 35-minute parade included 34 entries. "The creativity of the community entries was over the top," Mitchell said.
The winning parade participant was Zaya's Kaleidoscope.
