Magical paintings: Details of a lion’s eye are captured in Karina Vogt’s painting Heart and Soul. [/caption]
Every month, Kaleidoscope Fine Arts Gallery showcases one artist. The featured artist for April is Karina Vogt. Kaleidoscope hosted the art opening reception for “Luminous Beasts” on April 5, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A self-taught artist, Vogt loves wildlife, dance, and music. Her life experiences include joining The Great Peace March of 1986 and moving to New York City to pursue her dream of dancing.
For six years, Vogt danced with Magbana, a multi-cultural performance group of percussionists. While dancing, Vogt continued her passion for painting. She also discovered jewelry rendering, working as an assistant teacher and bench worker for Kristin Hanson, one of New York City’s fine jewelry makers.
Between 2009 and 2019, Vogt created murals and canvas-stretched paintings for magical bedroom makeovers for teenagers with cerebral palsy. She also became Muscle Activation Technique certified and cultivated a beading practice.
By 2019, Vogt moved back to the Colorado mountains, where she continues to paint and work on her beaded jewelry.

Upon entering the Kaleidoscope Fine Arts Gallery, guests were greeted by one of Vogt’s paintings, each a series of beautiful confessions within each brush stroke.
From the colors to the choice of canvas and size of the artwork, it was as if each one came to life the more time you spent in front of it. The beaded jewelry was so colorful it depicted smaller versions of Vogt’s art that one could wear.
Guests enjoyed light music and finger foods as they wandered through the gallery and spoke with Vogt about her work. It’s incredible how magical art can be, and Friday night at Kaleidoscope was no exception.
Kaleidoscope is located at 20 Lakeview Drive, Suite 210, Nederland. To learn more about Karina Vogt, please visit https://www.karinavogt.com/.
