Loved going to the Central City Opera

Dear Editor,

Thank you, Mountain-Ear, for working with the Central City Opera to subsidize rush tickets for Gilpin County residents!

A friend and I attended The Barber of Seville recently, and I can hardly express how wonderful the whole experience was.

We parked easily, poked around town a bit, had a bite to eat, then showed up at the box office an hour before the performance with my Gilpin ID and scored two excellent tickets -- for $10 each!

Then we attended the pre-show talk, where we got to hear interesting tidbits about the playwright, the director, staging and performance.

In the beautiful historic Opera House, I sat next to a guy who had driven up from Parker, and I mentioned the amazing ticket deal I had been able to get; he had just paid $147 for his ticket! And I'm SURE he didn't get $137 more enjoyment than I did.

The production was wonderful: so well-acted and beautifully sung, and so funny!!

AND then to complete the cultural experience, I went home and watched Bugs Bunny's version, The Rabbit of Seville (which was also excellent, in its way).

Thank you, Mountain-Ear, for making this fabulous opportunity available to Gilpin residents!
